Project Kiamichi, Kenya
Bringing Relief and Breaking the Poverty Cycle
The Kiamichi is an area that covers about 9 x 4 kms in rural Kenya, 2.5 hours from Nairobi and approximately 30 minutes from the town of Murunga.
It is home to approximately 5,000 men, women and children. They live in very basic mud huts with corrugated iron roofs. They live in extreme poverty with no access to health facilities, clean water, proper education, employment opportunities or ability to produce their own food. Our goal is to bring relief and a strategy to break the poverty cycle through 5 key projects (see below).
Clean Water Project Completed
Families of Kiamichi used to walk up to 6 hours a day to fetch dirty river water for day to day survival. This places terrible strain on their bodies resulting in arthritis, physical abnormalities and fatigue. Due to the aridity of the land, families are unable to produce crops or maintain livestock, so food is scarce with many relying on emergency aid from the Government. The water they do have access to is not treated, leaving people vulnerable to water born diseases and without the means to sanitize.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT – 5000 PRECIOUS PEOPLE NOW HAVE WATER!
- They now have access to clean drinking water for the firs time in their life.
- The ability to irrigate small crops, raise livestock and start to become more self sufficient.
- A reliable water source that cannot go dry!

The Education HUB Project
Currently, the majority of families in Kiamichi, Kenya struggle to send their children to school. The school is miles away, they have no means of transport and parents may need their children to help with day to day chores, for survival. The vast majority of adults also lack any formal education. These factors combined make it incredibly difficult for families to escape the poverty cycle.
The good news: – we have partnered with a local community group in Muranya to build a 10 room School for 0 to 18 year old’s in the heart of the community. This School will make available free schooling for selected underprivileged children in the Kiamichi area. Based on that, we are now raising funds to:
- Finish the building of the School which is already 30% complete as of October 2024.
- Purchase a Mini-Bus that will transport children from the Kiamichi area to the School in Muranya (approximately 30 minutes).
